REI SAPPERS PIONEERS BADGE

 Reproduction of the Italian Royal Army, REI, Sappers Pioneers badge, consisting of a gladius placed vertically with the Savoia royal family motto "FERT" on the guard, behind which is a black grenade with a flame at the top in representation of the moment its explosion, on the back the pin for the application on the jacket, all with enameled colors and gilding. The Corps of the Sappers Pioneers has its origins during the Second World War when in July 1940 Colonel Piero Steiner was commissioned to found the first school in Civitavecchia with reference to the German Sturmpionieren model and experience and Italian Arditi of the First World War. The first course will started in August 1940 would have created the first three battalions and smaller units that would have earned the respect and admiration of the enemy both in North Africa and on the Russian front.
