German Iron Cross Second Class in German Silver - 1939

IRON CROSS 2ND CLASS - 1939

 High quality reproduction of perhaps the most famous German decoration in the world, accurately made and in the same material in which the original model were minted: German silver. The Iron Cross 2nd class, Eisernes Kreuz II Klasse, again granted from 1939 until 1945 for all ranks: officers, NCOs and troops. Complete with its characteristic ribbon which was applied on second button hole after Iron Cross was worn in the award ceremony.

Each decoration was awarded by an officer during a formal ceremony if there was an opportunity and was always accompanied by the relevant certificate.

Award criteria:

• the soldier had to perform known actions in combat and acts of courage in the face of the enemy;
• excellent merit demonstrated to command the troops;
  • Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe were applying criteria of tonnage and number of culls.
