Tank destruction badge in gold

TANK DESTRUCTION

 Decoration established on March 9, 1942 by Adolf Hitler and to reward the soldiers who alone had destroyed or put out of action by means of explosives on hand a tank or an armored combat vehicle. The provision was retroactive to the date of June 21, 1941 day of the beginning of the Russian campaign. It wasn't given to the members of the unit tank destroyer. The gold version replaced 5 of the silver grade ones.

Criteria for award: 

• allowed the weapon with which the vehicle had to be destroyed were: a hand grenade, a grenade or rocket to the Panzerfaust, a charge contained in a bag, magnetic grenades, or any other type of explosive to handle by hand.
