 Reproduction of the visor cap and side cap badge of the snorting cow of the legendary Commander Gunther Prien who, in command of his submarine, U47, in the night between 13 and 14 October 1939 sneaked intrepidly inside of the Scapa Flow bay, base of the British Home Fleet, where it sank by torpedoes the battleship HMS Royal Oak with and seriously damaged the HMS Repuls. Escaped from surveillance, he returned to Germany where he was received with all honors and directly awarded the Knight Cross of the Iron Cross. The Korvettenkapitän Gunther Prien will disappear with his U-boat in March 1941. The badge representing a snorting bull and it will be the symbol of his submarine and the 7th flotilla, and the reproduction is the model that was sewn on the visor caps or side caps of the U47 crews.
